DIALOGICAL OPENING TONIGHT

Often a work of visual art is described as an attempt to express something not easily put into words. Yet art, like language, operates in a continual dialogue—existing in response to what has been said and done before while giving rise to new utterances. Dialogical explores the way artists work out of prompts from history, literature, social issues, popular culture and other art. To extend the conversation, we paired each artist with a writer who produced their own responses, informed by and informing the visual work in a chain of developing imagery and ideas.
